Scheduling and Packing in the Constraint Language Cc(fd) Scheduling and Packing in the Constraint Language Cc(fd)
Constraint Logic Programming (CLP), and its generalization in the cc framework, deene a class of declarative constraint languages combining nondeterministic goal-directed programming with constraint techniques over an arbitrary domain. CLP languages are particularly attractive for combinatorial search problems as they ooer a short development time and a reasonable eeciency. In this paper, we pr...
متن کاملMajor coat protein and single-stranded DNA-binding protein of filamentous virus Pf3.
The region of the Pf3 virus genome encoding its major coat protein and its single-stranded DNA-binding protein is organized somewhat like the corresponding region of the fd (M13, f1) genome. Nevertheless, the major coat protein is unique among the major coat proteins of fd and the other filamentous phages studied in that it lacks a signal sequence and appears to be a direct translation product ...
متن کاملMetal ion-induced lateral aggregation of filamentous viruses fd and M13.
We report a detailed comparison between calculations of inter-filament interactions based on Monte-Carlo simulations and experimental features of lateral aggregation of bacteriophages fd and M13 induced by a number of divalent metal ions. The general findings are consistent with the polyelectrolyte nature of the virus filaments and confirm that the solution electrostatics account for most of th...
متن کاملStructure models for DNA in filamentous viruses with phosphates near the center.
DNA structure models deduced from X-ray and physicochemical data for Pfl, Xf, and fd viruses have two antiparallel chains wound in helices of approximately 15 A pitch with the phosphates near the structure axes and the bases directed outward. The models, which differ for each virus, are used to interpret ultraviolet absorbance and fluorescence data in terms of DNA protein interactions.
متن کاملFilamentous influenza viruses.
Clinical isolates of influenza virus produce pleomorphic virus particles, including extremely long filamentous virions. In contrast, strains of influenza that have adapted to laboratory growth typically produce only spherical virions. As a result, the filamentous phenotype has been overlooked in most influenza virus research. Recent advances in imaging and improved animal models have highlighte...
